Neurosurgeon
Duties and Responsibilities: Neurosurgery is a specialty dedicated to the medical and surgical care of the brain and nervous system. As with many other surgical specialties, training takes many years, and the workload can be very demanding. However, neurosurgeons are in greater demand than many other specialists because of their ability to generate revenue for a hospital by performing surgery
Salary: $589,500 per year
Education: complete an undergraduate degree, four years of medical school, and residency training, which takes five or six years
Demands or Needs: The demand for physicians and surgeons is expected to grow 24 percent between 2010 and 2020. The American College of Surgeons Public Health Institute reports that growth in surgical specialties, however, was less than half that of physicians in general between 2004 and 2008. The fastest-growing surgical specialty in 2008 was dermatological surgery, which was growing at a rate of 188 percent.
This profession would not be for me. I really wouldn’t want to do this career because I don’t want to see the inside of the human body, especially the brain. Yes, I would love to become a nurse to help save people but I wouldn’t wanted to mess up in a surgery
